Early Day Motion

Mr Adam Afriyie MP submitted an Early Day Motion on behalf of Windsor Fire Station.

That this House notes with grave concern that the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority is being forced through lack of resources to close Windsor Fire Station during the critical night period and praises the campaign to resist by the Windsor Observer and Windsor Express newspapers and others; notes that over one million visitors come to Windsor each year to view the home of Her Majesty(1), Windsor Castle, which is the largest inhabited Castle in the world(2), which has also suffered a major conflagration in 1992: recognises that 27,774(3) people will lose their fire cover at night and will have to rely upon the services of Slough Fire station, which, being the busiest(4) station within Berkshire is already limited and may be unavailable thus creating a risk to public and Firefighter safety within east Berkshire and calls upon the Government to review this matter.
