This campaign began in 2006 when the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service advocated that Windsor Fire Station should be totally closed. This move was thrown out by the Fire Authority.

Unfortunately in 2007, the subsequent local government elections brought a new and comparatively inexperienced Fire Authority. They unquestionably accepted the new proposals of the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Services plan to close Windsor Fire Station at NIGHT.

This was felt to be a gradual re-introduction of the full closure option and the Fire Brigades Union plus the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council began campaigns.
