The evening of Saturday 06 March once more demonstrated the fallibility of the Brigade plan to close Windsor Fire Station and attempt to cover the additional area with the Slough appliance.

Firstly, Langley was called to a car fire on the M25 at 19-13 hours (Incident Number 11734). This left Windsor and the 2 Slough appliances covering east Berkshire.

Then at 19-27 hours the second Slough appliance was called to a refuse fire in Canterbury Avenue, Slough (Incident Number 11736). This left Windsor and one Slough appliance covering east Berkshire.

Finally at 19-30 hours Windsor and Sloughs first appliance were called to a kitchen fire in Slough Road, Datchet (Incident Number 11737). This briefly left no available cover within east Berkshire.

Now contemplate a future scenario without the Windsor appliance, with Slough and Langley trying to ‘plug the gaps’?
